Welcome, iPhone 5

A video which appears to show the pre-release web pages on the German Apple website for the upcoming iPhone 5 has been posted on YouTube.

The video, uploaded on the iPhone5Website channel, demonstrates how by clicking an invisible link (ooh, magical) below the iPhone 4 links, a page for the iPhone 5 is brought up. If this is a fake, then the various screen views showing the phone from various angles in black and white colourways are extremely well executed. The black version has a black rear case, while the white handset has a brushed aluminium rear casing.

Ubergizmo says that this video on YouTube is confirmed to be fake due to some “rather glaring errors”.

Anyway, nobody can deny that iPhone 5 is about to release. Predictions are either on 7 September or in October.

Cheap copy iPhone 5 already launched in China

I don’t know if I can call it “cheap copy”, because the copy one comes before the original.

The hiPhone 5′, a cheap and fake imitation of Apple’s iPhone 5 is now availablre in the Chinese fake market. The hiPhone 5 is available for a cheap rate of CNY200 (USD31, for Resistive touch screen) – CNY900 (USD140, for Capacity touch screen).

The hiPhone 5 has been designed based on the leaked pictures of the still to be launched iPhone 5. It is thinner and with less rounded edges than the existing iPhone 4, but the home key is identical. It supports JAVA and 2 SIMs. It is also equipped with WIFI, FM receiver, analogue TV antenna, Gravity Sensor, bluetooth and Dual Camera. The User Interface seems similar to iOS 4.

Be ready to buy an iPhone 5 @ middle October

4 US mobile operators, Sprint together with AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile, will begin to sell iPhone 5 in the middle of October, 2011.

Although it is still 2-month to go to the launch day, according to KOLD News 13, a British man Rob Shoesmith has stated that he will start camping out next week for his iPhone 5 at the lucky Apple store located in London’s Covent Garden district, but doesn’t quite know how long he will have to camp out.

iPhone 5 (or perhaps iPhone 4S) will be launched on 4 October

Apple earlier today sent out invitations for a special media event scheduled for October 4th with a tag line “Let’s talk iPhone.” Apple’s CEO Tim Cook along with other executives are expected to unveil the iPhone 5 during this event.

The invitation confirms earlier reports about iPhone 5 release date event that was rumored to be held in the first week of October. Apple’s invite carries iOS icons for Calendar, Clock, Maps and Phone all depicting the details about the launch event.

Unlike, previous launch events this year Apple will announce the iPhone 5 / 4S at the company’s Town Hall auditorium at its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The event will begin at 10:00 AM PT.

The use of the word “talk” and one notification on the Phone icon could point to speech features in the fifth-gen iPhone and only one model being announced. Many analysts have been debating about the possibility of a low-end iPhone and we’ll just have to wait and see what Apple has in store for us on October 4th.

According to various reports Apple could make the iPhone 5 finally available for sale around October 15th and would probably start accepting pre-orders a week before that. iOS 5 is also expected to be a part of the special media event.

We’ve been reporting on possible features of iPhone 5 and it’s widely expected to feature 8 megapixel camera, higher RAM, include new “Assistant” feature and have a thinner design.

4G iPhone might be under test internally

According to MacRumors on 20 August, Apple is testing a 4G LTE-enabled iPhone with carriers. A property list (.plist) file in iOS 5 Beta 6 makes MacRumors believe that Apple was already testing LTE hardware in the field.

LTE is the term the next generation wireless broadband network that is currently being deployed by both Verizon and AT&T. Data speeds for LTE should be significantly faster than the iPhone’s existing 3G network.

MacRumors, however, predict the 4G won’t be supported in iPhone 5 and it “probably won’t come out until 2012“.

iPhone 5 Hard Shell Cases Appear for Sale

According to MacRumors, New “iPhone 5” cases based on the leaked design document have started appearing online. A Chinese manufacturer True Supplier has posted both “hard shell” case and soft case designed for the iPhone 5.

These new cases show the same tapered back design of the leaked design document, as well as the mute switch being moved to the other side.

The production and sale of these cases suggests that at least some Chinese case manufacturers are confident enough in the leaked case design specifications that they are willing to gamble some amount of money in creating these early cases. There is an enormous financial incentive to have inventory on the launch day of any new Apple device, as Apple doesn’t provide suppliers with detailed designs specifications until after the public launch of the device.
